About meI was born in Oakland, California, in 1949, and grew up in the nearby towns of Richmond and Concord. In 1978, I married Andrew Alden (a freelance technical editor and the Geology Guide at about.com).
Eleven years later, we moved back to Oakland, where we share an upstairs flat in a duplex with our cat, Joey.
I work as a web designer and HTML scripter at the University of California, Berkeley.
